We’re all busy with important things that need to be done. And the more tasks we take on, the more exhausted and drained we become.
In a sense, we’re like rechargeable batteries that perform well when “charged” and become drained over time as we work. People even experience burnout from how intense this routine can be. And when this happens, resting and recharging are a must.
Now when it comes to feeling drained, there’s many reasons that cause people to feel that way than just working a lot. Some of the more common reasons include stress, poor eating habits, not getting enough sleep, and too much or too little physical activity. And these factors can affect our health in both the short and long term, ranging from minor to severe.
This is where self-care and recharging come in. Recharging is important because it helps us return to a normal state of health after a period of exertion. There are many ways to do it, and it depends on the person with what works best.
So in this article, I’m sharing 6 helpful ways to recharge your body and alleviate stress.
1.) Take regular breaks
When you’re busy, it’s possible to skip breaks and not even realize it. You can focus so much on what needs to be done to where you don’t think about including rest. Obviously, that’s not good. Make sure to always take much needed breaks of rest to perform your best. It’s imperative to your overall physical wellbeing.
2.) Take a warm bath
Heat can do wonders on the body such as loosening tight muscles. Heating pads are popular for relieving tension, but you can’t go wrong with just using water. Draw a nice bath, or even a shower, to help relieve the aches and pains in your body. As a plus, you can also light some candles, play calming music, and treat yourself to a delicious snack while you relax.
3.) Do some stretching
If you sit in the same position all day, your muscles can become tight from barely moving. During your break, do some stretches to help loosen the knots. You can also do routine stretching when you first wake up and before you go to bed. You can even do some yoga if you’re feeling up to it.
4.) Go for a walk
Take a nice walk around your neighborhood, park, or safe area in your city. This can simply be a stroll to clear your head, calm your nerves, or whatever the reason you feel the need to walk. This allows you the opportunity to take a breather from your hectic schedule. It’s a brief, peaceful moment away from the chaos of work.
5.) Change your diet
Food is more powerful than what many people think. Healthy food can make us feel energized, while unhealthy food can make us feel sluggish. If you eat a lot of junk food, chances are you feel bad most of the time. Change your diet and include more of the fruits and vegetables you enjoy. You’ll most likely feel so much better once you do.
6.) Get more sleep
Last but not least, get more sleep. Sleeping is very important and if you don’t get enough, you won’t be at your best. There are so many negative consequences to not sleeping enough. So to the best of your ability, do whatever you can to get more rest.
If you feel exhausted and drained, don’t try to push through it. Instead, take the time to self-care and recharge! Your health is important, so do whatever you need to properly care for yourself.

April 22, 2020 at 11:10 AMAfter years of getting daily activities done after putting my children to bed and showing hubby some attention before he dozed off, I became a habitual ‘night owler.’ This pattern of behavior leaves me feeling totally discombobulated throughout the day. I am failing miserably with 1.), 3.), and 6.) of the incredible tips in your article; I don’t get enough sleep (maybe 3-4 hours sometimes) and my regular daily breaks are long stretches right before napping throughout the day to make up for the 6-8 hours of sleep I should be getting at night. 2020 was my year to break this unhealthy habit but I recently fell off the wagon. Your article is the inspiration I needed to get back in the wagon and begin using all six helpful tips to recharge my body…Wish me sweet l-o-n-g dreams everyone!
